About Close The Coalhouse Door

Front Room’s production of “Close the Coalhouse Door” by Alan Plater, feated songs by Alex Glasgow. This play is an authentic classic steeped in the history of the Coal Mining industry.
In a sparkling mixture of song, dance and individual human drama, there is much laughter and joy but also some tears, as a working class family celebrates a golden wedding anniversary. Through a series of flash-backs and flash-forwards we also witness the rise of Trade Unionism in the mining industry.
